When a person first sees Duke they think "Man he is huge," some then think that he must have an attitude or be really outgoing. The truth is a little different. Duke is not very confident and suffers from "Giant Baby Boy Syndrome." Now, we know what you are thinking - that isn't a really syndrome. And you're right it isn't, but it should be. If it was that Duke would be the poster boy for it. He walks really slow on his leash and prefers is someone else goes first so he knows that he's safe. Once outside he gets a little low to the ground and when a person crouches down to pet him he immediate rolls over and wants full belly rubs. When the photographer met Duke she fell right in love. You just can't stop yourself from wanting to make him feel safe and happy. And really anyone will be make Duke happy, you just have to want to spend time with him and have plenty of time for those belly rubs.
Please make sure to do your breed research and look into owning a large dog prior to adoption. Duke will need a securely fenced in yard. This pet is available for adoption on 4/2/22. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been received. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop. |
