Yakima Humane Society is now servicing Ellensburg • Details
Meet Pip, a 4 year old female.
Pip came to the humane society under unique circumstances... she was found as a feral trapped at the Pepsi factory and was in really rough shape. She was initially supposed to be a "trap and release" but instead was given the opportunity to see if she could be tamed and brought back to good health in a foster home.
She has been in her current foster home for 7 months (brought in March of 2022 but finally posted for adoption in June); her fosters wanting to give her plenty of time and space to come out of her shell and eventually be adopted out. She took her time the first two months coming around, but since then has made tremendous progress and continues to make huge leaps and bounds each day; she's (warily) realized how nice it is to be pet, she surprisingly has a playful side that loves chasing the laser and playing with toys.
Pip has done well around other cats (her fosters have 4 of their own!) but even then they believe she would be happiest as an only-cat or with one other cat-companion.
Please understand that Pip is still learning to trust human hands. She is cautious and nervous, but she has realized how wonderful it is to be in a home with stimulation, a constant food source, and positive interactions. She would do best in a home without children and to be adopted by someone who is willing to put in the time, patience, and effort of allowing her to blossom into her true self as she wasn't in the environment to do so before.

A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.
NOTE: All pre-adoption questionnaires are subject to approval. Adopters must be 18 years of age. Entire families may be required to visit, including resident dog(s). 24-hour adoption holds may be placed on any animal (for approved adopters) with a non-refundable deposit. All dogs must leave with a collar and leash. All cats must leave in a pet carrier for their safety. Renters are required to have proof of landlord approval.
