Meet Siku, a 2.5-year-old spayed female Siberian Husky mix.
The name Siku means ice, with her frosty eyes and snow white coat it is easy to see why she was named this. Siku is an energetic, friendly girl who loves to go for walks. At 56 pounds she would make a great companion for all sorts of adventures. If you have other dogs in your household a meet and greet is required prior to adopting Siku, just to make sure everyone will get along. Please do your breed research before applying to adopt Siku, Huskies and Husky mixes are a very special breed of dog with unique requirements. They require securely fenced backyard as they often have the inclination to roam and can be great escape artists. They need active homes that will help them burn off some of that extra energy along with a home that will work with them and help them learn and maintain their manners as huskies can have a tendency to be stubborn and mouthy at times. Huskies can have strong prey drives, and while every dog is different, many huskies will chase cats and livestock. Siku would need to be in a home without cats. Grooming is also an important part of their routine, brushing them several times a week can help prevent their undercoat from matting and keep them looking their best. Huskies are a fun, active breed that many have fallen in love with over the years, but please keep their breed needs in mind if considering adding one to your household.

A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.
NOTE: All pre-adoption questionnaires are subject to approval. Adopters must be 18 years of age. Entire families may be required to visit, including resident dog(s). 24-hour adoption holds may be placed on any animal (for approved adopters) with a non-refundable deposit. All dogs must leave with a collar and leash. All cats must leave in a pet carrier for their safety. Renters are required to have proof of landlord approval.
