Meet Bambi, a 10-month female old Retriever mix.
Bambi arrived at the adoption center after being picked up by animal control. She and her friend Scooby were just traveling the streets. Bambi doesn't look like she has had an easy time. Both of her ears and her body has scars from old injuries and She has a current injury to her leg. Bambi is still working on her confidence and would benefit from a loving home that can give her loads of love and socialization. Bambi walks right up to staff for attention when she is in her kennel but once out of her kennel she doesn't feel confident and will lay down. She does love belly rubs and if you stop petting she will crawl right into your lap to remind you she is there. Bambi needs a very loving home and if another K9 is in the home she will need to meet them first as we do not know if her past trauma was from another dog or not.

A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.
NOTE: All pre-adoption questionnaires are subject to approval. Adopters must be 18 years of age. Entire families may be required to visit, including resident dog(s). 24-hour adoption holds may be placed on any animal (for approved adopters) with a non-refundable deposit. All dogs must leave with a collar and leash. All cats must leave in a pet carrier for their safety. Renters are required to have proof of landlord approval.
