*Update*
Spade is currently in a foster home with an adoption center staff member. She is doing really well with their other small dog and would do best in a home with other canines. Spade is still unsure about people. She is trying to hard and desperately wants attention but her fear is still holding her back. Spade is wonderful in the foster home, potty trained and has no issues with sharing her food and toys. This girl is so sweet and has such amazing potential! Meet Spade, a 2-year-old spayed female Crogi/Cattle Dog mix. Spade is a sweet girl that is trying so hard to understand her new environment. After being at large in the lower valley, animal control had to set a humane trap for Spade. She was so scared that she wouldn't let anyone approach her. At the adoption center Spade spends a lot of time in a staff office. She lays on her dog bed and keeps a close eye on all that goes on around her. Spade is gradually coming out of her shell and really does want attention. You can see from her video that she is trying to communicate her desire to play and get pets but at this time she is still in avoidance mode and not comfortable enough to approach people and will dart away when they approach her. Socialization is going to need to be slow and ongoing. A home with no small children is advised as they may cause Spade to be more afraid. Spade has had no reaction towards other animals. She is looking for a foster home or adopter that has experience with fearful dogs. This pet is available for adoption and is located at the Yakima Humane Society. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been received. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop. |
