Meet Karla, a 1-year-old female Pit Bull Terrier mix.
Karla arrived at the adoption center after being reported to animal control as a stray. Karla has obviously not being getting the care she needs. She is currently only 38 pounds but should be much heavier. Karla was fearful when she was brought in and didn't understand what the staff wanted from her. She does get vocal and back away when she is confused or scared. Karla has done well with the staff caring for her. When she was taken out for pictures she came right to the front of her kennel for the leash and was happy to get kisses. Karla has met a small dog at the adoption center and done well but it is always best for adopted animals to meet all other dogs in the home prior to leaving the shelter. Karla did great in one of the office at the shelter. She gets playful and can be a little mouthy so young children should not play with her until she is trained more. Karla is going to be very beautiful once she fills out more and has a chance to learn to trust people. She is likely to be vocal at anyone coming near her home so will make a great alarm system but is not a guard dog! This pet is available for adoption on 4/13/23 and is located at the Yakima Humane Society. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been received. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop. |
