Meet Pierce, a 2-year-old male Shepherd mix.
Pierce was brought to the adoption center after Yakima city animal control picked him up. He was reported to have been tied to a post in a baseball park for over 24 hours. Pierce is understandably a little shy with new people but he really wants to be friends. Pierce greets new people with his tail tucked but in with a few minutes of calm attention he is wagging it. He loves squeakers and tries to keep a clean kennel. This pet is available for adoption on 7/14/23 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been received. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.

NOTE: All pre-adoption questionnaires are subject to approval. Adopters must be 18 years of age. Entire families may be required to visit, including resident dog(s). 24-hour adoption holds may be placed on any animal (for approved adopters) with a non-refundable deposit. All dogs must leave with a collar and leash. All cats must leave in a pet carrier for their safety. Renters are required to have proof of landlord approval.
