Meet Tahoma, a 2-year-old male Shepherd mix.
This amazing boy is sweet and receptive to attention but his arrival to shelter was stressful. Tahoma was brought the the adoption center after being reported as stay at a local cemetery. When animal control approached Tahoma he was unsure and ran from them. It took awhile to catch him and by the time he arrived at the adoption center he was very uncomfortable with the staff. Once Tahoma had a few days to relax and adjust to his new situation he realized that staff was friendly and he became receptive for treats and affection. To help with his transition Tahoma was introduced the the staff dog Buzz (a small male terrier mix) Tahoma felt way more comfortable and was excited to go outside for a break with this other dog. Tahoma seemed to be fine on his leash for a walk and will retreat to his handler if uncomfortable. Tahoma does jump up for attention and is a large dog. He might do best in a home with a K9 companion but does need a fully fenced in yard. This pet is available for adoption on 8/18/23 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been received. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop. |
