Meet Gorda, a 5-year-old female Pit Bull/Staffie mix.
Gorda was brought to the adoption center by City of Yakima animal control. She and her buddy Gordo were out running at large in Yakima in the extreme heat and needed help. Gorda has been calm going in and out of her kennel and even ignores the other dogs as they bark at her walking out of the kennels. Gorda has done extremely well with her dog and people tests, getting along with all people and dogs she has met. We really think Gorda has an exceptionally good temperament that could make an excellent family dog. Gorda is very treat motivated and a bit in the chunky side, she could benefit from loosing a couple pounds. This girl is actually rather small in stature and we enjoy that she doesn't try and pull us every which way on the leash. Gorda is such a good girl she knows her commands "sit" and "down" and will do just about anything for some gentle attention. You definitely have to meet this girl in person to see just how much of a doll she is.

A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.
