Meet Chief Chedder, a seven year old Lab mix.
Chief Cheddar is a little bit of an oddball, he likes attention but is very head shy and wants it on his terms with people he knows. Once he knows you he does enjoy a good lovin and is very easy to handle, but you have to gain this boy's respect and trust. Due to this we recommend a home with no kids. Chief Chedder met a small dog in the lobby and went to say hi, the small dog snapped at him and Chief Cheddar immediately backed off so he could be a good dog for a home with other canine companions. Chief Chedder is just looking for a retirement home with someone who will accept him "as is" and love him and all of his quirks.
If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Sunday, that's right we are open all days of the week!
A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Before you go searching for free puppies or puppies for sale, check your local Shelters for available dogs and puppies that have been vetted and are ready to go home. Adopt Don't Shop.
