Meet Carrie, a nine month old Mastiff mix weighing 70 pounds.

Carrie is a gentle soul who has already endured far more than any young dog should. She was abandoned near our building along with her three Mastiff littermates. Tragically, two were struck and killed by cars before help arrived-but Carrie and her sister Cindy were thankfully caught in time.

Carrie is a thick, growing girl with a soft black coat and the sweetest, most soulful eyes. She has healing bite wounds on her legs, and it seems she may have been picked on by other dogs-possibly the "low dog on the totem pole" in her group. Because of this, she's understandably very shy and unsure of new things.

Carrie is looking for a calm, patient home where she can feel safe, be gently socialized, and gain the confidence she needs to blossom. With love and time, this quiet girl will become a loyal, devoted companion. If you have a heart for the shy ones and a peaceful space to offer, Carrie is ready to learn what it feels like to be truly loved.

NOTE: All pre-adoption questionnaires are subject to approval. Adopters must be 18 years of age. Entire families may be required to visit, including resident dog(s). 48-hour adoption holds may be placed on any animal (for approved adopters) with a non-refundable deposit. All dogs must leave with a collar and leash. All cats must leave in a pet carrier for their safety. Renters are required to have proof of landlord approval.
