Meet Lizzy, a three year old Pit/Retriever mix weighing 75 pounds.

Lizzy came to us after being found wandering alone, confused and clearly missing her people. A kind vet clinic took her in and reached out to us, and now this sweet, chunky girl is looking for a soft place to land.

Lizzy is a nervous girl who's been through a lot, and she needs someone who's willing to go slow, give her space, and let her open up in her own time. Once she trusts you, she bonds deeply - the kind of dog who will become your loyal shadow and ride-or-die companion.

She's not one for wild puppy energy or busy households, so a calm, adult-only home (or one with older, dog-savvy teens) would be ideal. Lizzy has met other dogs and does well with them, but she's not particularly playful - she's more of a "let's just coexist peacefully" kind of gal. With time and gentle socialization, she'll continue to build confidence.

If you have the patience to earn her trust, Lizzy will repay you with unwavering loyalty and love. She's not the kind of dog who gives her heart to just anyone - but if you're her person, she'll be yours forever.

NOTE: All pre-adoption questionnaires are subject to approval. Adopters must be 18 years of age. Entire families may be required to visit, including resident dog(s). 48-hour adoption holds may be placed on any animal (for approved adopters) with a non-refundable deposit. All dogs must leave with a collar and leash. All cats must leave in a pet carrier for their safety. Renters are required to have proof of landlord approval.
