Meet Champion, a seven year old Mini Poodle/Mini Schnauzer mix weighing 14.5 pounds.

Champion is a dog who truly deserves his name. He was brought in by animal control after being seen running scared for at least a week. When he arrived, he was matted and unsure of everything, including kennel life. But despite his tough past, we can already see the sweet, loving dog he's going to become with a little time and care.

Champion is still adjusting to all the changes, and he's a bit unsure of the leash right now. But we're confident that once he learns it means fun walks and new adventures, he'll be all in! He will need regular grooming moving forward to keep his coat looking its best and to prevent painful matting, so if you love to pamper your pets, Champion will be so grateful for your TLC.

He's a little nervous right now, but we truly believe he has the potential to be an affectionate, loyal companion for the right person. He just needs someone patient who can help him adjust and show him that the world can be a safe, loving place.
