Meet Mystic, a one year old Shepherd/Pit mix weighing 71 pounds.

Mystic is a big, sweet boy with a very tender heart who has clearly not had an easy life. He was seized by Animal Control due to neglect and arrived in our care suffering from ear infections, yeast infections, skin issues, and pressure sores. Thankfully, he has received the treatment he needed and is feeling much better, but he may benefit from a special diet moving forward to help prevent future skin and yeast flare-ups.

Despite his size, Mystic can be incredibly unsure of the world around him. It is clear that he has had very little positive socialization, so many everyday things are still scary and unfamiliar. When he is nervous, this big boy shakes like a leaf, and it is heartbreaking to see just how much reassurance he needs to feel safe.

Mystic is sweet but cautious, and he would thrive in a quiet, patient home that is willing to let him take things at his own pace. He doesn't need to be rushed or pushed into situations that overwhelm him. Instead, he needs someone who will give him time, gentle encouragement, and plenty of positive experiences so he can slowly learn that he is safe.

Mystic has already been through so much, and now he deserves the chance to experience the kindness, patience, and security he may have never known before. With the right person by his side, we hope this gentle giant will slowly discover his confidence and learn just how wonderful life can be.
