Meet Matilda, a two year old Pit mix weighing 48 pounds (13 pounds heavier since she came to us severely emaciated).

Matilda has already been through so much, and now she's learning what it means to feel safe and cared for. She came to us after being seized by Animal Control, extremely emaciated. We're happy to share that she's finally starting to put on some much-needed weight, and she's been making progress in our care.

It's clear Matilda hasn't had an easy life, and so much of the world still seems new to her. When she's unsure, she can be a little flighty, but underneath that uncertainty is a girl who wants to trust. With patience, gentle encouragement, and more positive exposure to new experiences, we hope to see her confidence continue to grow.

Once Matilda feels comfortable, her loving side begins to shine. She's looking for a home that will give her plenty of TLC, allow her to settle in at her own pace, and help her discover all the good things life has to offer. For now, a home without young children would be best while she continues building her confidence.

Matilda deserves the chance to leave her difficult past behind and discover what it feels like to be truly loved. She has already come so far, and we can't wait to see her continue to blossom with the right person by her side.
