Meet Bear, an eight-month-old Pit mix weighing 57 pounds.

Bear is a sweet, dorky boy who is trying to figure out why his whole world has suddenly changed. He was surrendered when his family's housing situation was no longer adequate, and after spending his entire life in one home, shelter life has understandably left him feeling nervous and unsure.

During his photoshoot, Bear was busy looking around for his people, clearly wondering where they had gone. He may take a little time to warm up in a new situation, but once he feels comfortable, we think he'll bond quickly with his new family.

Bear's previous owners describe him as playful, and he has lived with both men and women as well as other dogs. Underneath his nervousness is a sweet, goofy boy who just needs some patience, consistency, and reassurance while he adjusts to his new life.

Bear has already lost the home he knew, and now he's hoping to find someone who will give him the time and love he needs to feel safe again. He's ready for a fresh start and a family he can finally call his own.

NOTE: All pre-adoption questionnaires are subject to approval. Adopters must be 18 years of age. Entire families may be required to visit, including resident dog(s). 48-hour adoption holds may be placed on any animal (for approved adopters) with a non-refundable deposit. All dogs must leave with a collar and leash. All cats must leave in a pet carrier for their safety. Renters may be required to have proof of landlord approval.
