Yakima Humane Society is pleased to introduce our Virtual Foster Program, and we invite our community to get involved.
Many dogs in our care need extra visibility and advocacy to help them find homes. While not everyone is able to foster an animal in their home, anyone can make a meaningful impact by sharing a dog’s story online.
This program is ideal for individuals who are active on social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, or Nextdoor and want to help promote adoptable dogs.
Our Virtual Foster Program is specifically designed to support overlooked and longer-term residents. Puppies, small dogs, cats, and kittens are typically adopted quickly, so we are focusing our efforts on larger breed dogs who often wait longer for homes.
You may use the photos and bios provided on our website to share on your social media channels. No sign-up or direct contact with Yakima Humane Society is required — you can participate independently and on your own schedule.
Participants are also welcome to visit the shelter to meet their selected dog, take them for a walk, or even enjoy a sleepover to capture additional photos or videos that showcase the dog’s personality.
