At the Yakima Humane Society, we are committed to ending the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals. As the only open-admission shelter in Yakima County, we accept companion animals regardless of breed, health or behavior. Our staff and volunteers provide support and life-saving rehabilitation for the animals in our care.
We are saving pets, one life at a time. We are proud of the progress we have made over the years and we know there is still a long way to go. Tracking our numbers is how we measure our progress in saving lives and helps us to identify how to best help the most at-risk animals. With the help of our community and our transfer partners we have achieved a 90% save rate for dogs - that's an accomplishment to celebrate! In the next few years we are working on solutions to save more cats in our community.
You can help make a difference! Consider making a donation today, or come to volunteer, or foster an animal in your home - it takes a community to make a difference.
